Last week it was the rain (again). Now we have the sauna and sunshine.
Welcome to the Ozarks!
Heat, humidity, and rain (at least this summer) are part of the package here. Add to that sparkling lakes, scenic views, and lots of rolling hills and hollows—green as far as the eye can see—and you have summertime in the Ozarks. A taste of heaven on earth in this little niche we call God’s Country.
We’re friendly folks with a vibrant heritage, steeped in tradition, yet cognizant of change. (Here’s more about that.)
While some days are busier than others and life isn’t without its ups and downs, we’re very blessed.
And speaking of blessings, this weekend my husband and I will celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary! (Did I mention I was a child bride?)
Oh. Goodness. Gracious. Me.
Where have the years gone?
Well—after three decades, two kids, a cat, and a house, I guess the short answer is I don’t know.
Life goes in fits and starts and twists and turns. We blink and suddenly it’s five years later. Then 10. 20. 25. 30. And then—31!
Still, we can’t believe it’s true.
Like seasons, life and marriage are cyclical.
We treasure the good, ponder the hard, and pray for the best. Not our idea of best. God’s best. (And that in itself is good, but still, sometimes, hard.)
Sometimes, we think our vision is better. Sometimes, we have to tramp through the muck and mire of life to receive God’s best. I love it when He blows our vision of best out of the water only to remind us that His plan really is perfect and without error. You know—His best. For us.
Whew-wee!
Back to summertime in the Ozarks. And heaven. And anniversaries.
Our anniversary is actually in a few days, but since it falls during the middle of a work week, this weekend we’re celebrating with our children on the Showboat Branson Belle. We’ll eat a scrumptious meal, watch a fabulous show, and marvel at our little slice of heaven in God’s Country while giving thanks for all three.
