Some Fall Blog Changes Afoot!

Fall is hands-down one of my favorite times of year! I adore the feast of color, and later, the scent of burning leaves. I’m also crazy about the mums, the gourds, and the pumpkins! (If you’d like to know more, you can check out My 20 Favorite Things about Fall post.)

Now, onto the meat of this post. Fall means change, but sometimes, change is a good thing. For instance, for the last six months I’ve blogged on Wednesdays and Fridays. I altered my blog schedule for awhile and I addressed some of the reasons for that here.

It’s been a time of growth and renewal. I’ve enjoyed the freedom of more down time. I’ve focused on writing projects and other areas that had to take precedence over a blogging schedule. I’m thankful I scaled back when I did.

Blogging’s hard work. For those who do it on a regular basis, you understand what I’m talking about. It takes discipline and diligence, and a commitment to your readers. To churn out read-worthy posts, it’s a bit of a juggling act.

Besides writing the actual post, there’s also behind-the-scenes fun things like SEO coding, tagging, spell-checking, formatting, and all that goes with blogging. (Oh, and don’t forget the eye-fetching photos that enhance a great post.) These are all little considerations, but ones that suck up precious minutes of your time.

And if you’re novelist, as well as a blogger, the main focus should always be your babies–your books! I’ll always stand by this.

That being said, I’ve missed you!

Writers lead rather solitary lives, and for many of us, blogging is our social outlet. We enjoy visiting and chatting over cyber coffee. Though blogging isn’t our be-all-end-all, it does connect us with friends and like-minded folks we might not know otherwise.

As of Monday, 10/07/13, I’ll be resuming my M-W-F blog schedule. (I’ll still take necessary breaks and vacations, however, ’cause this writer-gal’s gotta rest, too!)

My Monday posts may be brief, but I hope you’ll join me.

If you’re interested in guest-posting, please shoot me an e-mail. I’d love to talk with you!

My blog has a down-to-earth feel. (Think Heartfelt, Homespun.) Things that would interest my readers include:

  • Stories of perseverance
  • Overcoming trials
  • Encouragement
  • Motivation
  • Slice-of-life vignettes
  • Small-town life
  • Life in the Ozarks
  • Childhood memories
  • And if you’re a writer–writing tips or your writing journey

This coming Monday (10/07/13) I’ll be reviewing Ragged Hope: Surviving the Fallout of Other People’s Choices by Cynthia Ruchti (AND giving away a copy of this fabulous shot-in-the-arm dose of encouragement!)

I pray you have a super-relaxing weekend!

Here’s to YOU–

While I do like my routine, I also love and crave change. It’s why I’m so thankful for seasons…there’s always change to look forward to. 🙂 And fall is my fave!

Glad you’ll be back to M-W-F! Fun!!

Do you know where the church in the photo is? Because I’m pretty sure it’s Grace Episcopal here in Asheville. They do an annual pumpkin sale and it’s SO photogenic! I played the cello for a friend’s wedding there. First AND last time for that.

Anyway, count me in for a guest post if you think it’d be a good fit. And I need to get you posting over on my blog some time . . .

Sarah, absolutely Asheville! I loved that photo for today’s post! (And I think I remember your blog post about you playing the cello for your friend’s wedding. =) )

Of course, you’d be a great fit! Will be contacting you soon!

I don’t usually embrace change, but sometimes I need something fresh to kickstart a new phase of creativity. Oh dear, you clinked my empty cup. Hmmm, refill, or do something else? Have a blessed week! Looking forward to that extra post. 😀
