It’s almost here! Can you feel it?
For this born and bred Ozarkian gal, fall is my absolute favorite time of year! I adore the cool breeze and glorious color. If I must endure the 30 degree temperature shifts (sometimes, literally overnight), then I figure it’s finally payback.
Fall in the Ozarks is a time like no other. There’s lots of busyness during this delightful precursor to winter.
Here are some of the things our family enjoys:
- Fall festivals like this one at Silver Dollar City in Branson
- The annual fall carnival at our church
- Homecoming at College of the Ozarks, my beloved alma mater
- Leaf-peeping (BTW don’t miss this great list of places to leaf-peep if you’re visiting the Ozarks)
The ACFW conference begins next week. This year I’m unable to attend due to some schedule conflicts, but I’ll be praying for my friends as they learn, craft, network, praise, giggle, and soak up tons of writing-related info! (Check out sweet agent-mate Jennifer Major’s fun take on last year’s conference. Here’s a follow-up post. You’ll enjoy hearing about conference time in her own words.) I’m gearing up for Dallas next year!
There’s a fantastic women’s conference (Fresh Grounded Faith) the second weekend in November. This year it’s near my neck of the woods again and I hope I’m able to go. Besides Jennifer Rothschild, additional speakers include Kirk and Chelsea Cameron, Michael O’Brien, and Christopher Duffley.
I blogged about the amazing Jennifer Rothschild a few years ago and my conference experience at FGF. Here’s Part Two of that post. (Such a blessing!)
And last, but of course certainly never least, is this writing gig.
I’m hard at work dotting my i’s and crossing my t’s before sending some projects off to my wonderful agent.
I’ve battled a cold this week (Aacckk! I’m rarely sick!) and I’ve not had much time to try and get well. I believe I need a little TLC.
So with that in mind, I’m taking a blog break on Monday, Sept. 22nd, but I’ll return again on Wednesday, Sept. 24th.
Hope you’ll join me!

Julia, from my mug this morning to yours! *clink* (Today’s coffee delight: Toasted Almond!)
Fall on my mesa in New Mexico means oven-like days (no longer furnace-like), and tolerably cool nights.
And the purple blooms of Russian sage.
It is a time to enjoy.

Andrew, your home sounds so beautiful! (I wouldn’t mind the warmth… if I overlooked a pool, the ocean, and the shrimp boats. Wait. That would be more like the Gulf Coast.)
Happy Weekend!
It’s still a bit warm, but the temps are supposed to dip back into the 80s this week. Yesterday felt like the hottest day all year. But the leaves are falling with each good breeze. Pretty, even though they are falling due to dryness! 🙂
Your picture is pretty. You are pretty. Much love to you!
And I love pumpkins!

Shelli, you are so sweet!
I like pumpkins, too! Every fall we carve a few and set them out with our mums.
Much love to you, my dear!
