This week I came across something on Twitter that I was delighted to share.
It was a tweet from Chick-fil-A:
Truett Cathy believed in the power of sharing encouragement. Who can you encourage today? Share using #EncourageMore
Well, since encouragement is the heartbeat of this blog and the biggest reason I do what I do (blog, write, speak), that simple call-to-action thrilled me.
The wheels turned. The adrenaline flowed.
I love this! I’m in!
And of course, I retweeted.
Who can’t use more encouragement?
Ironically, the day after Chick-fil-A’s tweet, I noticed the numbers on a particular post from my archives blew up.
My post 10 Characteristics of a Joy-Bearer was apparently making its rounds on Facebook. While it’s always been a popular post (and one I’ve since tweaked and reblogged), it’s never been shared with quite the same vigor as it has in the last few days. (I originally posted it in 2012!)
Well, friend—let me tell you, that encouraged me.
It wasn’t about the uptick in site numbers as much as it was about sharing my message of faith and encouragement.
As I studied the post stats, I realized my post share originated in the Philippines, and eventually made its rounds in 27 countries (and counting).
Praise!
So—I used that knowledge to my advantage to add additional blog post suggestions folks might enjoy.
One of those suggestions was How to Have a Personal Relationship with Jesus. Another was Hope in the Hard Stuff.
Today I want to challenge you to encourage someone. To be that bright spot. To bear up in love.
And then—keep the encouragement rolling on your social media networks with the hashtag #EncourageMore.
While you’re at it, check out the recent Cathy family blog post One Well-Cultivated Talent (concise with spot-on truth).
Remember, one simple call-to-action has the ability to change lives.
In today’s world where we’re cloaked in complacency and duped by the It’s all about me mindset, we sorely need a shove from our pretty, made-to-order pedestals.
It’s time to rethink our vision and reboot our focus.
God grants us free will.
We choose.
Ready?
Set?
Go!
Encourage someone today.
Encourage.
More.
