Well, for those who are wondering—
What they say about the Ozarks is true.
If you’re tired of the weather one day, stick around. Weather here changes on a dime.
For instance, on Wednesday my car registered seventy-two degrees.
Yesterday?
Not even half that.
And today…
Today it seems we are in for a get-your-blood-pumping-and-slip-on-your-long johns kind of day. In other words—a hearty round of wintry weather.
You know the drill.
Sleet. Freezing rain. A nice coating of ice just to spice things up a bit.
It’s enough to make this cold-blooded, born-and-bred Ozarks gal want to hunker down with a pot of strong, black coffee, my wool blend snuggy, and my fuzzy, warm house slippers. Toss in the laptop and a book or two, and I’m good to go. Ahh.
Since I’m updating the blog Thursday, this post will go live early Friday morning, but I’ll give you a few progress reports throughout the day (as long as we don’t lose power) on Twitter and Facebook. If you follow/like me, you can check out my status updates there.
Now, what’s a writer to do?
We’ve stocked up on the essentials—batteries, groceries, ice melt, and…a-hem…toilet tissue.
We’ve readied the bird feeder.
We’ve gassed up the vehicles.
Sadly, we don’t own a generator, but Sis and fam do and they live just one lane down should we lose power.
The blessing?
Yes—because I’m a glass-half-full kind of gal… Since the 2003 and 2005 tornadoes (and the 2007 ice storm) damaged many of the trees in our area, the brush and overgrowth shouldn’t be as problematic for the power lines this time. The utility companies cleared much of that away during those events. We’ll see.
Meanwhile, I plan to nurse some java and write from my cozy downstairs office. I’ve set the little lights twinkling (which I strung at Christmastime) and I’m adding words to my current work-in-progress.
A reminder… Please join me on the blog every W/F. If you don’t want to miss a post, you can sign up in the sidebar and they’ll be delivered right to your inbox.
I’m also hard at work on next month’s newsletter. As always, I’m sharing bucket-loads of encouragement and fun!
If you’re not part of my newsletter family, I’d love for you to join us.

Good Morning … it looks like here in Kansas, we may be in for much of the same. Stay warm and cosy. We are stocked up and look forward to being all snuggled inside our cottage sweet cottage. Warmest Blessings ♥ Teri

Teri, sounds like you have the right idea about staying indoors. At the moment, I’m nursing a hot cup of joe and adding to my WIP’s word count. (I see a maple danish in my near future. 😉 ) A few power outages have been reported north of us, but I think we’ve hit our sweet spot—just some very cold rain and a few slick spots in our area, thankfully.
