Well, after a delightful weekend with record-breaking seventy degree warmth, the Ozarks is in the clutch of winter yet again. The temperatures plunged into the thirties this week! Hmmppff.
There’s still much to be thankful for.
The house is warm, the coffee pot’s on, and there’s some tasty baked goods on the counter just waiting to be eaten.
Come on in—please join me!
Comfy?
Great.
Let’s recharge together over a steaming hot cup of joe and a sweet treat fresh from the oven. A coffee break does a body good.
Just to recap—in case you missed last week’s post, my blogging schedule has changed. I now post on Wednesdays and Fridays. (Usually I have my posts scheduled to go live at 5:00 CST.)
My blog content will be the same—upbeat and encouragement-driven—and I hope you’ll consider staying connected by subscribing to my updates. We’ll talk faith, family, and nostalgia with some Ozarks chatter thrown in for good measure. And of course, we may dish about the writing life, but it won’t be the primary focus.
Now.
How about some feel good to pump you up?
Here we go.
- Do you ever feel like you’re spinning your wheels, but not really going anywhere? You won’t want to miss this post via Seekerville: From Sandwich to Success: Cupcake Wars Winner Heather Saffer Inspires Us to Never, Never Quit. You’ll enjoy reading Heather’s motivating story about discovering her passion and going for (and achieving) her dream. Lots of encouragement here—I loved it!
- For all the romantics looking for a sweet Valentine’s Day movie, Christian Mingle sounds promising. And one of my personal faves is The Magic of Ordinary Days, which has been out for several years.
- You’ve seen and heard the Fifty Shades flap. Here’s Pastor Bill Giovannetti’s take from a godly perspective.
- There’s a local gal in the Ozarks who’s hard at work on her future cookbooks. In the meantime, check out mouth-watering recipes like this one —> Grilled Chicken with Ham, Arugula, and Cranberry Sauce. More divine yummyness can be found on the Rotisserie Chicken Queen’s blog. (Juliana Goodwin is one to watch.)
- Are you discouraged or in a season of doubt? Well, I have a word (or actually several) for you: Provision (Trusting God When it’s Hard)
AND…
What would a recharge be without some eye candy?
These are a few faves from our recent road trip to Big R’s BBQ in Joplin, MO.
Oh. My. Word! Total scrumptiousness!
You should make a point to visit if you’re in that area. Plan to spend some time, though, and bring your appetite!
Care to take a peek?
(I mean really. Don’t you just want to stick your finger—or face—in all that whipped cream?)
Here’s to a bright, blessed day, friend! (Scoot your coffee cup a wee bit closer…) *Clink*
See you back on Friday!

We had some California weather here. Now it’s in the fifties. Sheesh.
Lovely pictures…I can’t eat much these days, but if I could, I’d be inspired.

Andrew, I’m so sorry your diet’s so restricted. Continuing to pray blessings over your health!

Loree, if only I’d left room! *sigh* (I sense another road trip in my future.)
