Hello, friend!
Delighted you stopped by~ Hope your week’s off to a super start!
Well, as so often is the case, days, weeks, and months are humming by at lightning speed.
In some ways it’s nice. Getting rid of dull, dreary winter and preparing for the warmth of spring always brings a sigh of relief.
By February, I’m tired of the cold and ready for change.
Speaking of change, you may remember I recently mentioned a possible blog adjustment.
Today’s the day I’m making that adjustment.
Beginning with this post, I’m switching to a Wednesday/Friday blog format.
You can still expect the same encouraging content as before, with the only exception being I will now blog two days per week instead of three.
Since 2011 I’ve experimented with various blogging schedules, varying the frequency a bit, but always posting on a regular basis. Like with anything labor intensive, sometimes a break is in order. And for writers writing books, it’s our writing that must always trump anything else—including blogging—that whittles away at our time.
Will this schedule be permanent?
Good question. The answer is I don’t know.
I do think we’re seeing a new trend in social media. Less blogging, more writing. Of course, over the years, that season has come and gone in fits and starts. (I talked about this before here.) We never really know what the future holds, but I don’t think blogging will go away entirely. At least, I hope not!
I enjoy interacting. I like the camaraderie and I adore the connection with like-minded folks. I love dishing about life, love, and the Ozarks. I’m fond of people and I like making friends. I’ve met some real keepers through online connections. *waves*
And I believe some things are a given:
- Every writer should at least have a landing page. Someplace to call home—with a well-written bio, contact information, and a few writing projects listed.
- Not all writers blog. However—with Facebook limiting our status updates, other social media formats are sure to follow. The best coverage is still something we can control—our blogs. Honing the frequency we post and fine-tuning our content may need tweaked now and again, but blogging is still a great medium and a way to reach out.
Now—the flip side.
Writers need to write. Not just blogs. Or Facebook and Twitter statuses (though I do love them so!)
And as much as we’d like to—we just can’t burn the candle at both ends. Won’t work. Eventually something has to give.
To those who sit on social media 24-7 and are proficient at it and still find time to write novels, love on your family, and do it all, I tip my hat. You have my deepest respect! I haven’t mastered that yet.
So…
I’ll miss you on Mondays, but for now, a Wed/Fri blog format is a necessary shift.
I’d still love to connect with you on Facebook and Twitter! (If you “like” my page on FB, you’ll see most of my updates and some fun photos I post from time to time. Same with Twitter.) I can’t hang out there all day, but I do pop in often, and I’d thrilled if you joined me.
Also, if you SUBSCRIBE to my blog, you’ll receive future newsletters and updates. I won’t send spam or sell your email address. Ever. Unless…
No—I’m kidding. Not even for you-know-what.
What are your plans for the upcoming year?
Any changes on the horizon?
