Celebrations and Milestones

This past weekend was extremely busy.

Our son graduated from my alma mater, and while we were on the go non-stop, it was indeed a wonderful way to celebrate Mother’s Day.

You may recall that I dedicated Friday’s post to our future educator. If you didn’t get a chance to read it, I’d invite you to visit the link. You can learn more about “Mr. Downer” and why his teaching methods left me quaking in my little girl tennis shoes. I believe our son’s style of teaching will be much different from Mr. Downer’s.

As my family and I listened to our son’s commencement speaker, KY-3 news anchor Steve Grant, I experienced a myriad of emotions, but probably the greatest one being pride–pride in our son and pride in the hallowed halls of a college that  emphasizes honor, integrity, patriotism, a work ethic, and Christ-like character.

And unlike some graduations we’ve attended over the years, instead of longing for the commencement address to be over, we really didn’t want it to end. Mr. Grant’s engaging, personable demeanor and quick wit drew us in and held us fast. Judging by the rapt attention of  the other parents, students, and graduates, it was obvious that he connected with the audience in a way that others might not.

It was a great day, but since I wasn’t home to work on a blog post, today’s post will be short and to the point: this was a snapshot of my weekend and I’m a tad tired.

Hope your Monday’s off to a fabulous start! See you back on Wednesday.

How did you celebrate Mother’s Day?

Who’s the most interesting speaker you’ve ever heard at a graduation commencement?

Jess, congratulations to your sis! That must have been hard not being there physically, but I know you were there in spirit.

I’m glad you had a great Mother’s Day. You deserve it!
