As of today we are nineteen days out from the national ACFW conference!
Wow. Thrilled!
How did it sneak up so fast?
Despite the busyness just now (my father recovering, baby bird flying the nest), I’m anticipating one of my favorite writing conferences of the year, and counting down the days until I see old friends and new in Nashville.
Conference season is always exciting, and this year is especially so. I’m caravaning with a great group of ladies (from MozArks, my local ACFW chapter) and we never lack for giggles or topics to chat about. We usually meet for lunch a few days before we’re scheduled to leave town and we discuss our route and various conference details.
As in years past, I’ll room with a friend to add to the fun and help defray costs. I’m gearing up for some serious laughter (oxymoron?) and late night dish sessions (although—not too late ’cause this gal needs her beauty sleep).
We’ll head to conference a day early to take advantage of this year’s Early Bird Session, where the amazing Donald Maass will be presenting an all-day pre-conference workshop. Looking so forward to this!
Best-selling author Ted Dekker is this year’s keynote speaker, and there will be ongoing classes and hands-on workshops throughout the entire conference. If you’re curious about the conference schedule and would like to know more, go here. There’s a wealth of information about speakers, sessions, agent/editor appointments, etc. If you can’t make this year’s conference, no worries. Plan now to attend next year’s!
And, as I mentioned in this month’s newsletter, if you’d like to watch the ACFW conference awards gala, the event is usually streamed live online following the evening banquet (somewhere around 7 pm CST this year). Go to the ACFW conference sidebar and scroll down to “Live Blog of Gala” and click on that link. You should be directed where to go from there. Sometimes, you can sign up at the website beforehand for an e-mail reminder when the event is about to start.
This year, I’m truly honored to be a 2016 Genesis Double-Finalist. I’m still processing that, but I’m so humbled and blessed to be among such talented writers. It’s going to be a fabulous conference!
I’ll do a conference update in a future blog post when I return home, and of course, in September’s newsletter, which will have more of an in-depth recap. (You can subscribe to both over in the sidebar. Hint-hint.)
Until then—I plan to do a few more blog posts between now and 8/24/16, but the rest of the month I’ll take a blog break. I’ll need it!
Here’s to a relaxing weekend, my friend. *clink*
