ACFW 2012: Part Two

Cynthia Herron Writing Conferences 8 Comments

For many of us who returned from the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) conference, we’re still trying to play catch-up.

My time spent in Dallas with fellow writers and industry professionals was awesome, but I’m still a wee bit exhausted from the whirlwind of activity.

And wouldn’t you know? I developed an upper respiratory infection over the past two days. Accckkk! (I’m rarely sick, so I shouldn’t complain, but I’ve just not accomplished as much this past week as I would have liked.)

The lovely ladies/writers in the above photograph are: Amy Simpson, Jill Kemerer, Katie Ganshert, Gabrielle Meyer, and Sarah Forgrave. The Starbucks coffee bar was a favorite hit with everyone (we had some great gab sessions there. Oh, and of course, the coffee was deelish, too.)

Some authors brought treats to share with their friends like this beautiful, handmade pin that Gabrielle Meyer blessed me with. “Gabe” even let me choose the color and, of course, I chose red. Several of us tried to convince her to do a vlog on how she creates her trademark pins. Isn’t she talented?

And of course, I must share some other lovely goodies with you. One day I met with my website team, the fabulous Jones House Creative folks. How did they ever guess I needed chocolate?? Thank you, Matt, Tracy, Emily, and gang!

And if that wasn’t enough, another evening the Books and Such Literary Agency treated their clients to a decadent dessert bar complete with scones, pastries, teas, coffees, smoothie shots, and more! Each of us also received gorgeous, handcrafted candy plates with the Books and Such logo. (I have to admit, my chocolate truffle didn’t last long.) Thanks so much Janet, Wendy, Mary, Rachelle, Rachel, and Michelle!

It was wonderful connecting face-to-face with writers I’d only met online. Hugging some of my friends in person was a highlight of the conference. Talented authors such as Beth Vogt and Lisa Jordan, along with so many others, made the conference a delight.

(Congratulations, by the way, to Carol winner Lisa Jordan!)

For more conference highlights, you can check out Wednesday’s post, ACFW 2012: Part One.

And remember, my September blog giveaway is winding down. If you’d like to have your name thrown in the hat for a $10 Barnes and Noble gift card and mini book tote check out the rules and how to enter.

I pray your weekend’s super!

Blessings Always,

Oh I just love seeing all the ACFW recaps around the blogosphere. 🙂 Loved meeting you at ACFW, Cynthia! And can I just say, I love your website? I’m at the point of needing to hire someone soon and Susan May Warren recommended Jones House to me. Think I’ll have to take a look!

Melissa, I loved meeting you in person, too! You wowed us with your motivational devotion and words of encouragement!

The super-fab PulsePoint Design folks created my site and now I am managed by Jones House Creative, equally as fabulous! Thrilled with their personal touch, creative vision, and passion for Christ.

Spending time with you was one of my conference highlights, Cindy. There’s nothing like sharing the journey with others who totally get the writing life. I love this annual opportunity to see so many of my writer friends face-to-face and to make some new ones.

I love the Books & Such plate. That was such an unexpected surprise. Mine will be on my writing desk holding my stash of butter mints. =)

Keli, it was such a pleasure hooking up with you again! You’ll never know what an inspiration you’ve been to me. If you lived closer, I have a feeling we’d never get any work done. lol!

I love the Books and Such candy plate, too! Butter mints rock, but I think mine will hold Junior Mints. haha
