This week begins the official countdown to one of the busiest floral seasons of the year. (Have you ordered flowers for your Valentine yet?)
I usually plan a quiet (and delicious) meal at home, and of course, it involves chocolate. And candlelight. We have a teenager still at home and so our daughter helps me with meal prep. It’s a joint effort and we make it a family affair. (Not to say that those “Date Nights” aren’t fun. In fact, I’ve tucked away a restaurant gift card from Christmas to use in the near future. Keeping the love alive is a priority!)
If we were going out for Valentine’s Day, we’d have chosen the fabulous Dobyns Dining Room (located in the Keeter Center) on the College of the Ozarks campus. Take a look at what’s on the Valentine’s Day menu. Yum! (And here are some of the Lodge packages offered for those wishing to experience the ultimate romantic–or family–getaway. They provide excellent service and plenty of pampering. (And yes–it’s my alma mater so I am a wee bit biased. If you ever visit the Ozarks, add C of O and the Keeter Center to your “To Do” list and you’ll see what I’m talking about.)
Now, while we’re on the subject of Valentine’s Day and romance, I wanted to let you know about Inspy Romance, a great new site for lovers of contemporary inspirational romance. This is the new cyber home to 25+ authors who dish writing, books, and romance. There are fun giveaways, too!
I always feel a little nostalgic when Valentine’s Day rolls around. I miss being a little girl and exchanging Valentines with my school friends. And my children are no longer in grade school so there aren’t any more Valentine Day boxes to decorate or school parties to organize. *sigh*
As a writer, though, I can create special holidays within my stories. It’s always fun to see how my cast of characters will act/react when primed with just the right circumstance.
What better scenario to write about than one that’s focused on God’s greatest gift? Love.
I pray your Monday’s off to a wonderful start and that you’re making plans now to show your Valentine you care!

Especially the chocolate.

Andrew, always the chocolate! Lol
We learned long ago it’s impossible to enjoy eating out on Valentine’s Day, just way too busy. I appreciate you get out the candles and do it up right.
