For many, Christmas is a favorite time of year. It’s when we celebrate the birth of Jesus and cherish our loved ones.
There will be school parties, church cantatas, and family dinners. We’ll plan, shop, wrap, and bake.
We’ll make new memories.
We’ll uphold tradition.
We’ll wish for more hours in the day just to get it all done.
The weeks leading up to this blessed time will be marked by anticipation and a frenzy of activity. At some point, elation and stress will intermingle. It’ll take strong resolve to keep the holiday in perspective.
But I’m determined.
I won’t bow to the naysayers and Jesus-stealers.
I won’t hand over my happy heart.
I’ll smile.
I’ll pray.
And I’ll proudly say, “Merry CHRISTmas.”

Love your post! Merry Christmas!
This year, the advent wreath on our dining table is playing a significant role in staying focused on Christ. Lighting the one candle each night at supper this week is very powerful – next week it’ll be two candles!

Lori, I bet your advent wreath is lovely! Your idea of lighting the candles at supper is so moving. At our house, we have a “scripture box,” and we each take a scripture card from it and share the verse. This is something we do every night at our evening meal, not just at Christmas. I may have to add an advent wreath next year. You’ve inspired me.
Merry Christmas, to you, new friend!
Merry Christmas, dear talented niece and family, may your hearts overflow with joy during this wonderful time of the year!

Aunt Justine, thank you so much! Blessed be His name!
This year I’m keeping the holiday in my heart by waiting patiently in long lines, and bringing cheer to the harried cashiers.

Patti, good for you! Long lines are hard, but I imagine being the person behind the cash register can’t be easy either. I’m sure those folks appreciate a kind word and a genuine smile.
