Stories intrigue us.
A great story piques our interest and holds us captive until the very end. (Remember Wednesday’s post?)
This week I came across this inspirational nugget by Joanna Davidson. Short, sweet, and ohh so hanky-worthy, it’s the perfect example of what makes us turn pages.
Joanna’s story moved me.
It carved a trail upon my heart, imprinting a memory and a poignant reminder. A reminder of why writers do what we do.
We write, not for the glory of it or the off-chance for fame, but as a mechanism to express our thoughts—the ones that hold us hostage far into the night. The ones that beg for release until we frame them in a way that makes sense.
Those verbal snapshots become a story. A memoir. A blog post. One hundred other things.
Each word is a gift.
Each day, an opportunity to touch others for a lifetime.

After reading Joanna’s story, I seemed to get something in my eyes. The screen’s all blurry.
