Hope Springs Eternal

Years ago, when I began pursuing a publishing career, I remember there was often a little voice that would taunt Yeah, well hope springs eternal.

It was the voice of discouragement, the voice of disbelief.

I continued to plug away and tried to tamp down the ever-present rant going on in my head—the stream of negatives that played like a symphony within my brain.

You can’t do this. You’ll never be published. You won’t be able to pull it off.

I realized doubt and worry are two of Satan’s biggest tools, and I gradually decided to change those negatives to positives.

I traded the rant for a chant.

I began telling myself You can do this. You will be published. You will surpass your wildest expectations.

Today, many years later, I’ve developed thicker skin. I refuse negativity. I choose to look on the bright side of what if, rather than the dark shroud of if only.

I tend to be an optimist. (I’ve been called “Pollyanna” before. Only in the most positive light, I’m sure!)

Now when I hear others say, “Yeah, well hope springs eternal,” I’ll usually reply, “It sure does!”

I hope to be able to share some news in a couple of weeks, so stay tuned.

A question for you to ponder…

Has there ever been a time in your life where God has turned your doubts into victories?

Blessings Always,

Oh, yes. Especially on my writing journey. It’s been filled with discouragement, rejection, and disappointment. But then God gives me hope when I need it–and I find a magnificent blessing, an exciting new path for my writing, and hope. More than anything, God brings me closer to Him throughout.

Sarah–Sometimes, this “Pollyanna” still has to remind herself to let the Lord handle the doubts that start to creep to the surface. Thank you! You seem like such a dear!
Jill–That’s so true. Tough times do indeed cause us to grow in Him. And just when we think we haven’t got any more juice, God raises us up and creates a new work in us!
