Friday! Friday! The best day of the week!
Years ago this was the theme song of our children’s favorite teacher.
Every Friday, Mrs. M (a much-adored teaching veteran) would meander down to the principal’s office, hijack the PA system, and belt out those favorite words of students and teachers alike.
“Hey everyone! Know what day this is?”
After the lead-in and a resounding “Yesss!” from all the classrooms, Mrs. M would do her thing.
Half-chant, half-tune, The Friday Song would begin.
To this day, our kids still remember it.
It was a feel good ritual—a fun way to wind down a busy, work-filled week.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I love this idea! I’m for anything that adds a little levity to our lives and kick-starts the weekend with a grin and a giggle. Or at least a smile.
Ready?
Here we go!
Presenting your Five Fabulous Friday Pick-Me-Ups…
1. Having trouble adjusting to Daylight Savings Time? Check out how this adorable pooch handles it. Oh. My. Word. Sooo funny!
2. Dust bunnies. Gotta love ’em! I came across this gem via Scott Cyre. His site is Herman’s (Laugh and Think at the Same Time) Neutics. Go ahead and jump over—you’ll be glad you did!
3. Do you pay-it-forward? This post via Michelle Cox at Guideposts will make you think in new and creative ways. Wow. I’m still smiling.
4. As a mom, I can’t even hazard a guess as to how many times I read Dr. Seuss to my kids. Who can forget his fun stories, words, and rhythmic verse? Brilliance. Well, if you’re ready to stretch your writing legs, you’ll like this treat. (Trivia and writing prompts from The Write Practice, which BTW, is a really great hangout.)
5. Okay. I’m a sucker for heartwarming pet moments. When this soldier returned home from his tour of duty, his beloved Simba could hardly contain himself. Watch Simba’s reaction. You’re welcome! (Annnd fellow pet-lovers, there are even more grins on the TODAY Pets & Animals link.)
BONUS:
6. Are you a writer? Do you wash clothes? This little diddy may resonate—>Wash Day for Writers: Should We Air Our (Dirty) Laundry?
7. And then there’s this. Ahhh. The beauty of mistakes. Make ’em. Own ’em. And move on! (Yep. I’m dishing!)
Cheers! *clink*
(Today’s flavor is Toasted Almond!)
