Usually, when we think of “celebrations,” we think of birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. We contemplate how to make such occasions special, and we may commemorate the event with a special dinner, gift, or outing.
When I received the call offering me literary representation a few weeks ago, it was cause indeed to celebrate! (I spoke a little about that actual phone call in my March 30th post, God’s Timing.)
Today, as promised, I’d like to introduce you to my fabulous agent, Mary Keeley, of the Books and Such Literary Agency. Mary is a Christian and we are like-minded individuals. I am so excited and blessed beyond measure to be working with her and the Books and Such team, and I’m hanging on tight for an amazing ride!
Now that the agent/client agreement is signed, I’ve received numerous other forms and papers to fill out. (So, for those of you, like me, who think you’ve got it licked once you’ve submitted that manuscript, think again!) I’ve worked my socks off since this whirlwind began, and I’m gearing up to work even harder. (Not that I’m complaining!) Those of you who are published know exactly what I’m talking about. And those of you still seeking literary representation probably have some glimmer of an idea, too.
All of this still feels so surreal–like it must be happening to someone else. I mean, I’m just an ordinary gal who grew up wanting to write. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m far from fancy and I don’t put on airs. I’ve found it’s easier and saves a lot of heartache to just be myself.
I realize I still have a tremendous amount to learn. I may make mistakes. I might falter a wee bit from time to time. Please bear with me as I venture down this exciting new path.
It’s my plan to continue to blog about this process and whatever else comes to mind. Presently, I blog six days a week, resting and attending church on Sunday. Eventually, I may take Saturday off, as well. For now, I’m enjoying the six-days-a-week format, but I’ve been advised by some folks that can lead to early burn-out. Don’t want that, so I may re-think it.
Until then, I’ll continue to do as I have, and I’ll keep you posted on my progress and what’s new with me!

A question for you to ponder…If you are pursuing your publishing dream, does the road become easier or harder once you’ve reached certain milestones?

I’m thankful (and so blessed) to be sharing it with you, Patti!
Looks like you got your champagne! When Wendy Lawton blogged about someone else at the agency snapping up a regular commentor I wondered . . .
This is such a tremendous milestone. I’m celebrating and praising God right along with you. Now I can start praying for speedy placement with a publishing house!

Thanks, Jill! I wish I could hug your neck! You were so very kind to respond to my questions about blogging, and I appreciated your time more than you can possibly know! Now, if I can just master the art of Twitter…I better go read your post again on that one. : )
Congratulations on your offer of representation, Cynthia! I saw Jill’s shout out on her blog today and wanted to drop by to share in your celebration. May this news lead to more good news in the near future.

Keli, thank you! I’ve been following your progress, as well, and I’m so excited for you, too! Had any Taco Bell lately? : )
Cynthia, I had a Fiesta Taco Salad for lunch today, thanks to the Taco Bell gift card a writer friend sent me. She knows what I like. =)
