Back to School and a Little Housekeeping

Back-to-School season officially started over our way this morning. Not sure how I feel about that.

You see, today ushered in a laundry list of “firsts” and “lasts.”

First day as mama to a high school senior. Last first day of public school.

First day of that brand spanking new back-to-school outfit. Last day to make that memory.

First day to cheer our high schooler on. Last day (final year) to soak up the feeling.

And don’t get me started on additional firsts and lasts or I might just wax nostalgic.

I will say even though we’ve been through this before, this time it’s different.

This time, it’s our last baby bird—our youngest child who’s preparing to fly. I’m not ready to go there yet. (But…if you have helpful tips, I’d really like to hear them!)

All sentimentality aside, this mama is knee-deep in senior prep mode. Soon, we’ll be scheduling senior pictures, ordering graduation memorabilia, and visiting colleges.

There will be dozens of to-dos and lots of busyness around our house in the months to come.

Right now, I’ll focus on this day—this moment—and thank God for our children and the blessing of motherhood.
