When You Need To Be Brave

Ever had those days where everything bad that could happen does?

The weed trimmer quits. The ac unit goes out. Your car won’t start. The words won’t come. The diagnosis stinks.

And that’s just for starters.

And once the ball gets rolling, maybe it goes from bad to worse.

We’ve  all experienced those restless, joy-strapped days where nothing seems to go as planned.

Maybe we’re tempted to throw in the towel.

Maybe we want to run.

Or hide in a hole.

Or quit.

But…wait a minute.

There’s still a little shred of something clinging to our sleeves.

Well, hold the potatoes and pass the courage! That’s called hope.

And when we have hope—a shred, a thimbleful, or a boatload—there’s potential. The potential to be brave when we need to be.

Until God turns things around.

Today if you’re low on hope, short on courage, and in need of a pick-me-up, try these on for size. Your “brave-o-meter” will definitely get a boost!

  • Want to be a successful writer? This piece by Stephen King (yes, him) is sublime. It appears on Jerry Jenkins’ blog and it’s a definite keeper.
  • My niece, Erin, knows how to be brave. If you missed Wednesday’s post, please check it out.

Now—I wanted to let you know I’m hard at work on my June newsletter.

Shelli, I’m so sorry you had a rough week! I’ve been there, my friend. I think those times we feel like failures are those times when God’s preparing us for our biggest victories.
