Since bad news is easy to find, I pray your stop here today is a brief respite from the discouraging gunk that would drag you down.

Wouldn’t you agree that a little sweetness and light are far more encouraging than those ugly, old dust bunnies in the corner? (You know the joy-stealers I’m talking about—television, the national news, those good intentioned, but horrendous photos that folks post on Facebook.)

Bad things are all around us. It’s true. We’re never in short supply there.

While we can’t and shouldn’t shutter ourselves away from it, I do believe sometimes we must filter the discouragement.

Filtering doesn’t mean we wear blinders. It means we choose what, when, and how much bad stuff permeates our minds.

For us sensitive souls that’s not weak-willed thinking. It’s smart. We know our limits. We understand the soul-sucking weariness of abuse, injustice, political rants, and on and infinitely on. After too much, I, personally, go into melt-down mode. The mental drain interferes with my productivity.

So.

We won’t go there today. Today, here, it’s all about the love.

Get ready.

Time to smile!

Here are Three Sweet Thoughts for Your Day:

1. Guideposts Editor Rick Hamlin is on a mission. You simply must check this out. His Musical Lunch-Break Miracle will definitely lighten your heart. (Side note: Read Diana Aydin’s entire post before going to Rick’s YouTube channel. They’re all fantastic, but Moon River is my favorite so far. Which one’s yours?)

2. Don’t miss 25 Oswald Chambers Quotes on Spiritual Leadership via Brad Bridges. I loved these quotes because they’re so applicable to all of life. (Here’s Oswald Chambers’ bio. Great, great man of faith.)

3. These Illinois kids love their school custodian. What a wonderful testament of goodness! (Thanks, Huffington Post for sharing.)

Hope these sweet thoughts resonate with you, my friend!

Oh My! Almost as good as getting a rather large cottonball pulled from your eardrum…but the pros … I am not deaf anymore!!!! I will still choose to filter out negative thoughts, as you teach! Although, when you cannot hear at all…it’s much easier!!!! 🙂
