The Day After the 2016 Presidential Election

I rarely speak about my political beliefs.

At the end of the day, it’s not about me, my party affiliation, or who won or who didn’t win the presidential election.

And for the record: No, I’m not a fence-sitter, a wimp, or a lukewarm patriot.

Who am I?

A believer (Romans 10:9-10)

A victor (1 Cor 15:57)

A truth-seeker (John 4:24)

A freedom-lover (2 Cor 3:17)

A mercy-getter (Eph 2:4-10)

A sojourner (Psalm 23:1-6)

A winner! (John 3:16, Rev 22:12-14)

I’m also a wife, a mom, and a proud American.

I love God, country, hearth, and home.

I’m saddened by sin.

I abhor injustice.

I remain encouraged because I know the end of the story.

Simplistic, yet true.

And yesterday, today, tomorrow, or next year it isn’t going to matter who we voted for or which candidate won the 2016 presidential election. Not really.

Politicians will continue to theorize, strategize, monopolize, and legalize the same matters they always have.

The world will continue to spin.

There will still be hunger.

An imperfect system.

Broken people.

Eroded values.

Dilemmas.

Lawlessness.

Cruelty.

Heartache.

Injustice.

Violence.

Death.

But one day…

One glorious, anticipated, yet unexpected day…

There will no longer be elections, presidents, robo calls, or party lines.

Divisiveness will end.

We’ll have a King. The true King.

Perfection will reign.

His name is

 Jesus.
