Hello, friend—

Delighted you stopped by!

Over our way, we’re approaching the “dog days of summer.” It’s that time of year where temperatures and humidity soar, and folks’ emotional fuses go a little haywire, too.

Now, I will say this is one of the rainiest summers on record for the Ozarks. For every two or three dry days we’ve had, we get another downpour. (Makes me remember that great, old hymn There Shall be Showers of Blessing. Who can’t sing those lyrics without giving thanks?)

Maybe you’ve hit a soggy season.

Or maybe you’re having a heat wave.

Perhaps, you’re in mid-week meltdown mode. Relax—it happens!

What you need is some heartfelt, homespun feel good.

Well, you’ve come to the right place.

It’s time for four encouraging pick-me-ups.

1. You’re a survivor. (Check out this winning performance by the Selected of God Choir. And listen to this song if you missed their previous audition on America’s Got Talent. Two different styles, but two huge blessings.)

2. You have what it takes. Guideposts executive editor Rick Hamlin offers a beautiful perspective on prayer in his post God’s Cooling River of Life. And for a special treat, read through to the end.

3. God’s on your side. In Marion Pyle’s poignant devotional, Praise and Trust in God Through the Storm (via Sonoma Christian Home), you’ll see why God is faithful.

4. You—yes, you—have the power to change someone’s life. Grab a tissue and check out this inspiring story via Simple Grace. It’ll make you smile the rest of the day!
