I’ve Joined Pinterest

051I was sucked into the vortex yesterday.

After years of resisting, I finally joined Pinterest. Hooray!

Let me just say, I didn’t join on a whim or because I needed yet one more time-suck to my day.

I joined Pinterest as a creative outlet and as a way to organize thoughts and ideas pertinent to future stories. And yes—friends have suggested setting a timer, and now I see why.

Pinterest is a glorious visual feast that draws you in and hooks you with its bright colors, snappy designs, and ridiculously awesome ideas.

There’s literally everything from A to Z on this network. (…And I won’t even mention the decadent recipes.)

Goodness. Gracious. Me.

Let’s just say—thank heaven for that timer!

Prior to opening a Pinterest account, I did my homework.

For months, I’d researched the pros and cons of this network. I had an idea about tips, tricks, and things to try.

I knew ahead of time what  boards I wanted to create and what types of things might interest me. For instance, a few of my boards include The Ozarks, Best of the Blog, Comfort Food, Small Town Living, and Miranda (our silly, cute cat).

I have more ideas for other boards, but those are still in their infancy.

For now, I have a personal account rather than a business one because I plan to use Pinterest in a more relaxed fashion. (Other folks/brands use Pinterest solely with marketing in mind, and that’s fine if that’s their goal and it works for them. For me, it removes the joy when it becomes another must-do.)

I’ll eventually add a Pin-it button to my website, but until then, if you’d like to follow along, here’s my Pinterest link.

I hope you’ll stop by and say hi!

Do you use Pinterest? What boards are your favorites?

What are your best tips?

On Tuesday, May 17th I’m chatting with the delightful Savanna Kaiser over at The Engrafted Word. Please head over and say hello! (Be sure and leave a comment. There’s a $15 Starbucks gift card up for grabs and a copy of William Sirls’s fabulous novel, The Reason.)

Here’s to a sun-filled, smile-induced weekend!

Much Love and Many Blessings,
