It’s finally here–> Happy Valentine’s Day! Here’s wishing you and yours a heartfelt greeting.

I pray your day is filled with oodles of love and warmth and that you’re surrounded by those who are truly special in your life.

Whether married or single–in a relationship or not–may you always know there’s One who loves and adores you above all others. You’re spoken for. (John 3:16)

I’m planning a quiet, candlelit meal at home with family. We’ll dine on comfort food (perhaps beef and noodles) and follow that up with a delectable dessert. We may sip a glass of wine and put in a movie.

I’m feeling a little nostalgic so maybe we’ll select one of our classics like Roman Holiday or Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The Quiet Man is a good choice, too. (And I wish I had Enchanted Cottage and Magnificent Obsession–those are on my To Be Ordered list. ) And then again, I did make a new purchase this week–Pillow Talk–because I’m a huge Doris Day fan. (Huge.) I love the classic, older movies because they represent a gentler time, I suppose. And they’re family friendly. (Which is important since we still have a kiddo at home.)

For my married friends, I wanted to share a blog post I just love:

51 Ways to Be the Reason Your Spouse Smiles Today

This post is packed with great tips and suggestions by encourager Lori Ferguson at Encourage Your Spouse.

See which tip is your favorite. I had a hard time deciding because they’re all super ideas, but I think for me it all starts with #43. Pop over and see what you think. You’ll want to spend some time at Lori’s fabulous cyber home so grab a cup of coffee as you head over. =)

Hugging each of you with my heart!

Just visited Lori’s site – great stuff!

Something just happened – literally, between when I brought up today’s post, and when I am not typing this answer, that may sum up Valentine’s Day quite well.

May sound grim, but bear with me.

After dropping Barbara off at the commuter rail station, I started bleeding internally, and felt simply awful. New territory of pain. I texted her to let her know – so she could find an alternate way home tonight if I can’t pick her up.

Got worse, and scary. I was going to text her and tell her that, and ask for her prayers.

I had the phone in my hand when a one-word text came in – “Praying”

It may be that the whole meaning of the day is summed up in that connection, that link through God’s grace in prayer requested and offered.

Andrew, not to worry–taken care of.

I’m so concerned for you! Are you going to the ER? Please know I’m praying for you continually! And God bless Barbara! For her thoughts to be so in sync with yours is purely a God-thing.

Heavenly Father…please touch Andrew just now–physically, emotionally, spiritually. Please anoint him with healing in a miraculous and powerful way in accordance with your will, plan, and purpose. Grant Andrew and Barbara clarity, peace, and perseverance as they navigate the road before them. Place those in their path that will minister to their spoken and unspoken needs. We love you, dear Father, and we lay this at your feet just now…

      It’s in your Son’s name, I pray.

      Amen

Cindy, thank you so much for the prayers, and he concern.

No ER, I’m afraid. No insurance, and I will not wreck Barb’s financial security – and the dogs’ security – to save myself for a but a while longer. To be wildly presumptuous…”No greater love…” sometimes has to be called into deliberate action.

But I can run a field-expedient IV to stave off hypovolemic shock, if need be, and that’s very possibly on today’s agenda. It’s not hard, and more people should know how.

To rise above this in hope and faith is the best I can really do, and perhaps it’s what God wants to see. It’s certainly not courage, because this is decidedly scary.

It’s trust, and accepting God’s trust in me, that I will stand by my duties.

        Gob bless!
