Good News Calls for Chocolate authorcynthiaherron.com

Ohh, my goodness.

After the torrential downpours and record flooding the Ozarks had over the past week, it’s time for some good news. Combine good news with chocolate cake and we have a party!

You may remember, I scaled back on blogging over the past month, as I craved some much-needed R&R. I continued writing during that time, too, so blogging’s had to take a back seat. As you know, when faced with blog content or manuscripts, my works-in-progress will always win hands-down.

In the past, I juggled writing and blogging and a social media presence, but in recent months, especially, I’ve sensed my body telling me to slow down. Wonder Woman, I’m not, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. (Though…those satin tights are pretty awesome.)

Now…for the good news.

Recently, I was notified that I double semi-finaled in the 2017 American Christian Fiction Writer’s (ACFW) Genesis Contest! Believe me, that phone call was so much fun.

Like last year (when I semi-finaled, and later, double-finaled in the romance and novella categories), the call caught me off-guard. I have to say, though, that’s the best kind of call to get just as I’m clearing  away supper dishes. Those pots and pans practically flew through my fingers. 🙂

At this point, the next round of judging begins with finalists announced in mid-June. Genesis winners will then be announced at the ACFW conference gala in September. It’s a lengthy, but exciting process. (Read more about the ACFW contest here.)

As I’ve shared before, the writing journey’s not for the fainthearted, and when you’ve been at it a while, exhaustion and discouragement can overwhelm. I remain centered by diving in new stories and creating fresh content. And, of course, God’s my focal point as I navigate this topsy-turvy publication path.

It’s a path that’s often difficult and bittersweet, filled with lots of twists and turns.

Sometimes, the season’s marked with fear and tinged in sorrow. Other days, like those this week, bring unsurpassed joy.

Thanks for joining me on the journey—an uphill marathon that I’m determined to finish.

Dear Cynthia … Congratulations! Such lovely news. I am a bit slow at visiting as we were out of town for a few days. We are getting settled in after pretty spring days away. I am taking time away from my blog and spending less time on our computer for a while. I love quiet and simple days. Wishing you the very best. Hugs ♥ Teri

Teri, there’s something to be said for simplicity, and I absolutely understand the need to step away for a season. I hope it’s restful for you.

Thank you for your kindness and well wishes! {{{HUGS}}} to you, also!
